It's getting so dark out nowthe clouds are crowding into the open sky
sometimes I can feel the cold
so intent
on crawling into my bones and through my veins
hold me closer against your flesh
keep my heart from freezing
save me from the numbing cold.
Sometimes I know you feel the cold too
trying to drag you under.
Under the weight of your insecurities and fears.
I'm trying to pull you up
but sometimes the cold is just too strong.
Let me hold you up
against my heart.
I know it's so hard to let go
but you need to
someday.
And when you finally do
I know the cold will lift
and you can be truly warm again.
